So 2010 was definitely not my year for blogging! I'm still paying for my domain name and typepad account, so I really should be using it, right?
I want to start 2011 off with more blogging. I'm not completely clear right now exactly what my blog will be used for. I love fashion, but I'm not the type of person who is patient enough to photograph and post my outfit each day. I bargain hunt like it's a sport, but I don't always have an incredible deal to post. I love taking pictures of and telling stories about my dog... but I think I've worn that one out at this point. And while we're hoping to travel more this year, we don't go enough places that I can write consistently on it. For now, I'll let the pieces fall where they may and hopefully some sort of pattern or organization will surface.
For this post, I'm throwing out my resolutions for 2011. I hope most will stick, though I will be pleasantly shocked if they all do. :)
1. Dedicate more time to updating this blog ... as previously mentioned.
2. Work with what I have. I have developed such a bad habit of buying things that I don't need - especially clothes. I'd really like to focus on enjoying what I have. I don't need a new tennis dress every month. I don't need to replace my table settings every season. I don't need ANOTHER pair of black shoes.
3. Finish my "inspiration notebooks". I have two large envelopes filled with pages torn out of magazines. One envelope contains home ideas - decorating, organizing, shortcuts/tips, etc. The other contains outfits, makeup, hair... any fashion or beauty related look or article that jump out at me. My plan has always been to put them in sheet protectors, then separate into two notebooks - home and fashion/beauty - and keep as fun references.
4. Drop back to a size 8. This one was on my list last year, too. While I'm okay with the fact that my body will never fit into a size 4 or 6 like it did in my 20's... I'd at least like to get back to a solid size 8 to feel comfortable. This will be a mix of diet and exercise for me - which also means getting back to my good ol' Weight Watchers diet. This one definitely isn't impossible for me, but it will take a lot more discipline than any of the other resolutions.
5. Read more. I'm talking both books and magazines, here. I have a sad pile of half-read books... all of which I'd like to finish and still have my interest. I also have a sad pile of untouched magazines that need to be mined for my notebooks (resolution #3) - and these quick reads usually help satisfy my creative urges.
6. Make a baby. Probably seems like a weird one to add... but this is something both of us really want to happen this year. It's been a long two years of trying. I finally bit the bullet and did the surgery a few days ago to help the process... so why not this year? I realize it's far more in God's hands than ours - but that's doesn't mean I can't pray and wish and hope.
7. Learn to wear Spanx... and love them. I'll be 34 this year. I'm finding that a woman's body does some very cruel things in her 30's and no matter how skinny or fit I am, there's not much I can do about it. I'm also learning that more and more women have secrets under their gorgeous garments - like Spanx - that help them look and feel fabulous in their clothes. So why shouldn't I?
So here's to hoping that these are resolutions I can stick through and stick to.
