I came home to this the other day... the sweetest thing in the world.  Two of my boys, deep in their dreams, napping together after a long day.

 

What some may consider a curse, I consider a blessing.  We have a "weed" (the curse/blessing) known as butterfly bush growing under our windows along the side of our house.  (Some states consider it a weed, some don't... but I think it's gorgeous with it's tall lilacs and wild greenery.)  Anywho, I've been watching it grow and grow all spring and summer and just waiting patiently for the butterflies to come feed from it.  A few mornings ago, I looked out of the window, and FINALLY:

 

 

 

Kevin called me at work a few weeks ago to let me know we had potential tenants.  One of the birdhouses in our backyard was being inspected by a Mommy and Daddy chickadee.  A few days later, they moved in... and not too long after that, we had babies.  We didn't remember to take daily pictures, but here's what we did get:

 

Just a few hours after the last picture was taken, all of the babies fledged.  Hopefully we'll have more new tenants soon!

Winters in NC are generally mild... I believe that's why so many people from the North choose to move down here - we have decent winters AND decent summers.  But so far, this winter has been a bit more brutal than most with an ongoing streak of days in the 30's and 40's.  No fun.

Last weekend, Kevin and I went to eat Sunday lunch at Birkdale Village and came out to find these two little birds huddled up on someone's truck tire outside of the restaurant trying to stay warm.  I believe Kevin said they are house finches - but whatever they are... just thought this was too cute of a moment not to capture!
